Hongkong, 4th. September, 1908.

Dear Sir,

In pursuance of our conversation on the subject

of Church accommodation at Kowloon, i now beg to forward to you the

plan of a site sketched by Messrs. Leigh and Orange, on which it is

proposed to erect a Church. After much trouble in inspecting all the

available sites in Kowloon, we decided that this was the best and most

suitable one in the whole peninsula.

If Your Lordship will get the Government to

devote this piece of land for the purpose, I am prepared to erect a

Church thereon, at an estimated cost of $35,000 from pians gratuitous-

ly prepared by Messrs. Leigh and Orange, who have also kindly consent-

ed to superintend the erection of the building on the same terms.

i am prepared to hand over the sum of $35,000

to Trustees of the Anglican Church so soon as the consent of the

Government to the grant of the site is obtained. The plans of the

building can be drawn without delay.

Trusting that there will be no difficulty in

obtaining the sanction of the Government to the proposal,

I have etc.,

(Sa.) O. B. Chater.

The Right Reverend

The Bishop of Victoria.
